There have been favorite books that are chock full of all three factors for greatness nhl and otherwise and they may not be romance books, however the love is there.

Here is a list of some of the stand outs:

  • Then Wayne Said To Mario
  • Behind The Bench Inside the Minds of Hockey's Greatest Coaches
  • Orr: My Story
  • 99 Stories Of The Game
  • Tales Of The New York Rangers Locker Room
  • and so much more

Think of biographies, autobiographies, and some even romance books in terms of the game and the love that resulted about hockey in all aspects of this great sport. There are even great selections here for kids like "Z is for Zamboni" that opens up the world of hockey to a budding young audience.

What are the basics of hockey?

The love of hockey often start young and there are leagues for kids offered for middle school, high, and if lucky leading to NHL status. This sport is fast paced cutting edge precision all taking place on soli dice. Let's go over the who, what and why three of basic game play. Who is involved here are the following:

  • Six players
  • Positions-goalie, defenseman, forwards
  • Officials-2 referees 2 linesmen

What is the goal of this sport no pun intended is score, defend, and yes score. There is no body contact with the puck just guidance by the stick in to the goal over a 20 minute time frame or period. In the event of a tie then sudden death determines a winner Stop in play is instituted for penalties like offside or icing. Offside is entry in offensive zone before arrival of the puck. Another case is when side of the center red line the puck is shot across goal line.

It is 6 minutes in entirety broken down into 20 min period with each minute being fast moving play. Another basic bit of information is the actual rink or playing field. It is marked by bold red center line that divides it in half about 1oo feet each. Also prominently drawn are bold gold lines across the area 13 feet from each distinct end. From the goal line is a contrast blue line marking the boundary of each teams zone of defense. The why is a complex formula of discovery, athleticism, and plays all created organically.

What are the 3 main rules of hockey?

There are more than three rules that govern hockey but 3 most important or main ones offsides, icing and two line pass. These rules are foundational to the sport and others are added in support as guidelines of the main rules. Take some time to understand the game more deeply with a good related book. Mr. Hockey: My Story Gordie Howe is one of the autobiographies worth a read that is all about the man and about hockey.

So the world of hockey is opened up to play or experience through written word. However it is enjoyed is a win for both. Make sure to take to the ice or not hockey is a great sport to be a part of.
